The various speakers at the 2010 Desiring God Conference called us to think, to consider again the life of the mind and how our intellect should be used to glorify God.
I think it’s fair to say that each speaker contributed something to the mix. For those who lamented Rick Warren’s presence at the conference, his message nevertheless caused us to think, to exercise discernment and once again test everything and hold on to the good. Chan stirred our hearts. Al Mohler shed light on the noetic effects of sin. Thabiti examined Islam. Sproul showed us Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. And to round out the topic, Piper stabbed at the center of the issue by asking: What does it mean to love the Lord our God with all our minds. What does that little word “with” mean? How do we love God with our minds?
His answer was insightful.
He also provided a helpful outline of the Conference as a whole- what they hoped the Conference would help prevent. Each point is a worthy reminder for us all. I think it’s worth your time.
Difficulty: Moderate. It’s thought-provoking, but quite manageable.
Must Listen Factor: High. Audio scavengers like myself will certainly want to give this a go. Moms staying home with a sick child on Sunday would certainly benefit as well. So yeah, it’s a message that’s appropriate for a broad audience.
